Ouch!

I’ve been missing in action for a while thanks to an inflamed knee.

I woke up on a Thursday morning a few weeks ago with a sharp pain in my leg that began just above the knee and went all the way down to the sole of my foot.

After several days of avoidance, I gave in and saw an orthopedic surgeon. He told me to take the meds that he prescribed (They work slowly and have rendered me sleepy, which is why I haven’t posted.) and to put cold on the knee.

I’m finally getting over the ailment and am able to move around without pain again.

One thing funny happened in the waiting room of the doctor’s office of all places. When the young lady called my name, I walked very slowly towards her because putting weight on my left leg made the pain worse. As I approached the door, I saw a group of ladies sitting by the door who appeared older than I by fifteen years at least. Noticing that I am still too young to be considered old, several of the ladies shook their heads and gave me knowing looks. Getting sympathetic looks from people in their seventies certainly made me feel worse. So as I reached the young lady at the door, I remarked just loudly enough so the ladies starring at me could hear,

”I guess he’s going to make me give up my skate board, huh?”

The sympathetic older ladies all laughed at my remark and shook their heads at the follies of this Baby Boomer. Their reaction made me feel much better.
