Hurricane Ike–Second Story

September 22nd, 2008 by Rory Olsen

By Tuesday, Trish and I had more or less adjusted to living without power. Since her office was closed, she went out to forage for food and ice. I went to my office out at Harris County Psychiatric Center. When I returned, I was amazed to see that the bottom of my pool was no longer full of vegetation. I had spent four hours practicing my surface dives and had only gotten twenty five per cent of the stuff out of there. The pool people have done their thing at their regularly scheduled time–eleven in the morning on Tuesday.

From what I understand about pool cleaning technology, “pool vacuums,” which have long attachments that can reach to the deepest recesses of swimming pools are on the market.  All the ones that I have seen are electric. Logically, since our power was out, the inescapable conclusion is that the pool service trucks must have generators with them. I am impressed.

I mentioned this story to a friend on Askville, who lives in the LA area. Her comment is that I should love and cherish my pool service because they are unusually efficient and dedicated to their work. Thank you, Atlantic Pools, for a job well done.  http://houston.citysearch.com/profile/38528841/houston_tx/atlantic_pools.html
