Hurricane Ike–First Story
I know that everyone who lived through Ike has stories to tell. My few are going to be humorous. We lost power before it was fully ashore and regained it four days later. We got cable TV back on day five and DSL on day six.
Ike was set to make landfall on Friday evening the 12th. As far as I can tell, Houston was pretty well shut down on Friday. Trish and I had filled out gas tanks two days before and topped them on Thursday. We had coolers and ice waiting. By four in the afternoon, we were as ready as we were ever going to be.
Around five, it was already pretty dark outside. I went out the front door to check the house from the north, not that was where the storm was coming from.
Everything looked deserted, except that one of my neighbors was out mowing his lawn. Mercy sakes, why was he mowing his lawn right before a hurricane?
