Brilliant Idea

June 13th, 2009 by Rory Olsen

I spent three days this past week at the annual Advanced Estate Planning and Probate seminar sponsored by the State Bar of Texas. Like just about every legal seminar that I have ever attended, there was too much sitting around in one place.  Since sitting in one place causes problems for my back and knees, I got up hourly to move around, stretch my legs and get something to drink. You’d think that the State Bar of Texas would have figured out by now that keeping people motionless in their chairs is not conducive to learning.  Obviously not!

But, they did do something right. They offered the participants a choice of getting their course materials either in forty pounds of paper and folders or on a flash drive.  I opted for the flash drive.

The program was held at the Westin Galleria, which is near the Apple Store in the Galleria. On one of the breaks,  I checked out a state of the art, seventeen inch MacBook Pro.  Wow!

I think I know what I want for my birthday!
