Memorial Service
As we know from the Michael Jackson memorial service, some people are lionized in life and in death. Most of us are not. We can quibble about whether this is good or bad. However in any case that is the way things are.
This week I attended the memorial service of a former bailiff of my court, Marvin Foster Schlauch. Marv retired long before I took the bench, so I can only write about him based upon my experiences as a lawyer.
Marvin impressed me as the sort of bailiff that every court should have. He was always on top of things. When the going got rough, Marv was there to keep order. He was a solid, dependable man.
When things were relaxed, Marvin was fun to be around.
From what I can tell, Marvin was a good, decent person. He will be missed.
